Anthony Harley, better known as “Little Benny,” has died at the age of 46 on Sunday. Little Benny’s death is a huge shock to his family and the music lovers who loved his funk music style. Little Benny passed away while he was asleep at night at his brother’s home in Washington D.C. on May 30, 2010. The news of the death was confirmed by his longtime friend and former business partner Keith Galloway. Cause of his death has not yet been known. Little Benny joined the long list of celebrities who passed away in the month of May.
Little Benny was a member of the Rare Essence go-go music band and produced hits such as “Body Moves” and “Lock-It.” Little Benny was the best trumpet player and he was inducted into the Go-Go Hall of Fame for his contribution in this filed. Kato Hammond, a magazine’s editor, said,
Harley left Rare Essence in the 80s to form Little Benny and the Masters. After that, he played with Proper Utensils, and reformed several times with members of Rare Essence. He’d been playing with Brown recently, including a Capitol Heights show the night before his death.
According to his friend and former business partner Keith Galloway, “Little Benny” died in his sleep. Cause of death is not yet known.

on Little Benny’s music. Everytime I hear his
music it brings back so many good memories
and my brother loved lil Benny and the masters
Rare Essence had so many tight go-go hits. I’m
gonna miss lil Benny he had so much talent, and
his voice was one of akind. In 2010 all them old
go-go joints that Lil Benny did still be rocking Im
gonna miss his talent, his music and most of all
how he used 2 rock the stage, my heart felt sym
pathy goes out 2 Lil Benny’s entire family he will
be dearly missed !!!! We love u Lil Benny.
